  • The Compulsories: The Horse, Pre-exercises, Warm-up, Injury prevenion, barrel training
  • Die Pflicht: Das Pferd, Vorübungen, Aufwärmen, Unfallverhütung, Holzpferd-Training
  • Safe and fun for everyone! Right from the start the child gains body control, balance and harmony with the horse. S/he gets accustomed to height and speed and learns self-confidence, team spirit and consideration for the horse – before s/he is allowed to have direct influence on a horse’s mouth as a rider! Correct vaulting training provides safety for the person and more enjoyment for the riding horse! In this film Jutta Wiemers explains and analyses in great detail the correct techniques for the basic skills needed by a vaulter – demonstrated on the barrel as well as the horse to the best of the abilities of the Austrian Team ASV St. Florian in 2001. Here you will see tips to train your horse as well as getting information on injury prevention. Correct warm-up procedures and stretching for the vaulters and many useful pre-exercises are demonstrated. Technical details are explained thoroughly, particularly while training on the barrel, where each exercise is taken apart into its individual components and later re assembled – on the horse as well and shown in slow motion where complicated! Although the rules for international and many national competitions have changed in the meantime, these basic skills are still all contained in the original exercises of the mount (and dismounts) basic seat, Flag, Mill, the Scissors, Stand and the Flank. These films accompany the book “Equestrian Vaulting” by Jutta Wiemers.
Part 2: 0:55 hours Teil 2: 0:55 Std.

  • For the Freestyle part of vaulting you receive information for the planning of a kür as well as the judging criteria so your team can start out on the right foot! In the kür the vaulter has to deal with transitions – the flow of one exercise into the next – and the trainer has to compose the kür so that
this flow is possible! Especially in team kürs the vaulters need practice for partner co-ordination and grips, safety and bail-out training, and transitional flow of several people to vary positions on the horse. The trainer receives tips on choreography, composition and information about the degree of difficulty and the criteria of assessment by the judges. Also shown are examples of the run-in presentation of a team, and some fun ideas of the end greeting for show numbers.
