• Explain continued:

1) Analyse the problem:

• In the “Tyres “ game the horse must have enough self-confidence and courage to tackle such “traps” without panic – otherwise he first needs help! He has to trust your guidance and aids – an must follow them. He should be able to work slowly and with concentration and develop a feel for where he treads.

• Have you agreed with your horses on a vocabulary so you can communicate? Does the horse understand your body language and voice aids?
• Placing a foot precisely on touching aid has to be learned by the horse – or is your horse still mistrustful of the whip?
• Can your horse set his hooves individually – and this according to our rope and touching aids? Does he know how to take only one step at the time, without setting the other feet into motion also – have you tried this before over a pole?

1) Analysieren wir das Problem:

• Im „Reifen“ Spiel muß das Pferd genug Selbst-vertrauen und Mut entwickeln, um solche „Fallen“ ohne Panik in Angriff zu nehmen – sonst braucht es erst mal Hilfe! Es muß Ihrer Führung und Ihren Hilfen vertrauen – und sie befolgen. Es muß langsam und konzentriert arbeiten und ein Gefühl dafür entwickeln, wohin es tritt.

• Ist das „Vokabular“ abgestimmt, so daß Sie sich verständigen können? Versteht das Pferd Ihre Körpersprache und Stimmhilfen?
• Einen Huf genau auf Touchierhilfen zu setzen muß das Pferd erlernen – oder mißtraut Ihr Pferd der Gerte noch zu sehr?
• Kann Ihr Pferd seine Füße einzeln setzen – und zwar auf Ihre Seil- und Touchierhilfen hin? Kann es nur einen Schritt zu tun, ohne die anderen Beine ebenfalls in Bewegung zu setzen – haben Sie das schon über eine Stange geübt?

• Have you properly established the meaning and intensity of your whip aids?
• Have you learned to time your aids correctly? Can you recognise which foot will move next?
• Does your horse have enough peace of mind and trust in you for this challenge? Or does he need more preparation? You might have to play other preparatory games first (which one is always suggested in the book) to make understanding easier.
• Does your horse reliably and trustfully stop on command – or will he flee and panic, in case his foot gets caught and a tyre flips up against his leg? Is one tyre already over-challenging him? In that case jump to the Help chapter!

• Haben Sie ihm die Bedeutung der Gertenhilfe und deren Intensität schon beigebracht?
• Beherrschen Sie das genaue Timing der Hilfen? Können Sie sehen, welcher Huf als nächster abheben wird?
• Ist Ihr Pferd seelisch ruhig genug und vertraut Ihnen in dieser Anforderung? Oder braucht es mehr Vorbereitung? Dann probieren Sie Vorübungen (welche ist im Buch immer vorgeschlagen), damit das Verstehen einfacher wird.
• Stoppt Ihr Pferd vertrauensvoll und verläßlich auf Stimmkommando – oder wird es panisch und flüchtet, falls sein Fuß hängen bleibt und der Reifen an sein Bein hochschlägt? Ist es schon mit einem Reifen überfordert? Dann springen Sie ins nächste Kapitel „Helfen“ !
