 “Stay! Stay!” until the picture is taken…

- Most horses will learn to kneel on command via the Curtsey, which you saw in a previous blog.
- Once you have taught them the meaning of the touching aid (which is shown and clearly explained in the illustrations of the book “From Leading to Liberty” the horse will retract his second foreleg – or lower himself onto both forelegs by a little levade-like hop. In that moment the hindquarters take on all the weight, so that the horse learns the concept of collection.

- Die meisten Pferde lernen das Knien über das Kompliment, welches im letzten Teil erklärt war.
- Wenn die Pferde die Bedeutung der Touchier-hilfe begriffen haben (die im Buch “From Leading to Liberty” in klaren Illustrationen gezeigt ist), dann werden sie als Reaktion das zweite Vorderbein wegziehen – oder sich mit einer kleinen Levade-ähnlichen Erhebung gleichzeitig auf beide Vorderbeine niederlassen. In diesem Moment muß die Hinterhand das ganze Gewicht aufnehmen, so daß die Pferde auch schon das Konzept von Versammlung kennenlernen.

- Only strong and healthy horses should be asked to kneel under the rider – and only if the rider is light enough – as this is a strenuous exercise for the horse!

- Nur starke gesunde Pferde sollten unter einem (leichten!) Reiter knien – denn diese Übung ist für das Pferd anstrengend!

- Such Fun! Achievable anywhere – but only once your horse really trusts you. View these films by Eva Wiemers.
- Lying down, and especially lying flat, makes a flight animal less ready to escape, and he will therefore only do it for you if he is certain that you stand guard for him while he rests.

- Kann man überall – aber erst wenn das Pferd einem wirklich vertraut! Sehen Sie diese Lehrfilme von Eva Wiemers.
- Liegen, und besonders Flachliegen, macht ein Pferd weniger fluchtfähig. Daher wird es das nur tun, wenn es seinem Menschen vertraut die Wächterrolle zu übernehmen, solange es ruht.
