- We learned (part 10) how pedestal games free up the horses’ shoulders – so does Cavalletti work- in which we include our dogs for added fun!

- Now we learn the Spanish Step for shoulder freedom.
- The horses again react to a touching aid, given on the shoulder. If you train it correctly the horses will learn to lift the foreleg high and stretched, rather than proudly stomping holes into the ground.

- Nun lernen wir den spanischen Schritt – der verbessert die Schulterbeweglichkeit!
- Die Pferde reagieren auf eine Touchierhilfe an der Schulter. Mit korrektem Training lernen sie die Vorderbeine hoch und gestreckt zu tragen, anstatt nur stolz Löcher in die Erde zu stampfen!

- If the horse does not actively step with his hind legs while lifting the front one, the exercise has little gymnastic value.
- The Spanish Step is a playful gesture and makes horses proud and happy!

- Der spanische Schritt ist eine Spielgeste und macht daher die Pferde stolz und glücklich!

- When you rest the whip against his shoulder, this is a sign you want him to hold the position until “released”.
|
|
- Wenn die Gerte an der Schulter angelegt bleibt, heißt das die Position zu halten bis es “erlöst” wird.

- Once the horse has understood the concept, you give the same whip aids from above – later these also become superfluous.

- Wenn das Pferd die Touchierhilfe begriffen hat, kann man sie auch vom Sattel aus geben – später wird sie ganz überflüssig.
